Alice's Raglan In Wonderland

The story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland first came to life in a rowboat on the River Thames. It was created to entertain the daughters of a dean at Oxford, where Lewis Carroll, real name Charles Dodgson, lived and worked as a mathematics instructor. One of the daughters, named Alice, repeatedly begged the story be written down, and eventually Carroll complied, presenting her with a hand-printed and -illustrated version entitled "Alice's Adventures under Ground". Sensing he had a hit on his hands, Carroll financed the story's publication in exchange for 90% of the royalties. Dickens' A Christmas T-Shirt

Charles Dickens wrote 'A Christmas Carol' in 1843. First published on December 17th, the initial print run sold out by Christmas. The long-sleeve T-shirt of Revelations

The etymology of the word "Apocalypse" lies in the Greek words apo (away from) and kaluptein (cover), together meaning "to pull the cover away from". Who knew George Clinton and P-funk were being so directly apocryphal with their oft-repeated threats to "Tear the roof off the sucka"? Not this author. Easily the most controversial book in the Bible, Revelations sparked a dustup in 4th century Rome over its inclusion in the Great Book. The (mis-)reading of apocalyptic literature also forms the backdrop of conflict and Inquisitorial persecution to Umberto Eco's excellent 'The Name of the Rose'. 2006 is the 230th anniversary of a hot summer day in 1776 when a group of tax-hating capitalists, intellectual gadabouts and bewigged silent-but-deadly types gathered to send King George III of England a polite note saying thanks for all the tea, but we're not going to be your colony after all. This letter along with a few other sheets of parchment went on to become the basis for the federal government of the United States of America. The values they stand for have been poked, prodded, stretched, torn and ignored, but still inspire many to work for "a more perfect union".
